Empowering Caregivers: Practical Parenting Training (Babies & Young Children Edition)
Research and common knowledge both suggest that the most influential relationship in a child’s life is with his or her caregiver. A strong caregiver relationship can limit the effects of trauma, increase a child’s confidence and independence, and empower a child to explore life from a safe base. However, for OVC and their caregivers, a history of trauma, loss and transition can add complexity to the already challenging adolescent years. HOW do we empower caregivers to parent their babies and young children well? This presentation will center around an evidence-based parenting program, and will communicate practical tools for improving parenting skills.
Presenter: Jonathan Morgan is a Clinical Psychologist and the Manager of REPSSI’s Knowledge Development and Learning division.
